Smartsheet’s Collaborative Project Management App Integrates with Google Drive

Bellevue, WA - April 24, 2012 - Smartsheet.com today announced an integration between its leading online project management and collaboration tool and the newly released Google Drive(tm), Google's cloud storage and collaboration service.

Smartsheet’s innovative cloud worksheets redefine how teams collaborate on projects and tasks. The web-based tool combines a familiar spreadsheet-like interface with file sharing, automated workflows and reminders, and sophisticated project management features such as Gantt charts, dependencies and sub-tasks.

“Google has long understood that people need intuitive, powerful solutions to work however and wherever they want,” said Mark Mader, CEO of Smartsheet. “We share the same view. Using Smartsheet and Google Docs together has long helped our customers keep projects and related files connected - a tremendous boost to productivity. Now, Google Drive makes this easier as a single place to store all your files and access them from anywhere. We’re very excited about this deeper level of integration and the increased convenience it delivers to our customers.”

Small business and large enterprises alike use Smartsheet to track, manage, and collaborate on a broad array of work tasks, including sales pipelines, IT rollouts, marketing campaigns, inventory and business processes. Now from within Google Drive, Smartsheet users can create, update, organize and save their project sheets.

Additionally, Smartsheet users can attach any file stored in Drive (such as photos or Google documents) directly to individual tasks, or rows, in their sheets. As a result, relevant project information including files, graphics, notes and comments are accessible in the context of the project, making it easier to collaborate with colleagues, vendors, and clients. Users can also open Excel spreadsheets or MS Project files within Google Drive and manage them as dynamic cloud-based Smartsheet projects.

"We’re excited to have Smartsheet integrating with Google Drive,” said Scott Johnston, Group Product Manager at Google. “Google Drive is designed to help people be more productive from anywhere, and Smartsheet supports that goal by letting people easily manage projects and organize project materials.” Smartsheet offers a free 30-day trial and is a featured productivity app in the Chrome Web Store.

Google Drive also allows people to create, edit and share files with one another. Google Drive applications are third-party applications that work seamlessly with Drive.
