Memorial Day - The Freedom to Work

Some of the Smartsheet team is honoring the men and women who’ve made the ultimate sacrifice to keep us free by working today. We’ll never be able to repay them, but we’re doing our best to make the most of our freedoms – particularly our economic ones.

It seems others around the country have done the same, as the phone continued to ring the whole day. Two particularly interesting interchanges had us chuckling.

Ring
Brent: “Smartsheet, this is Brent.”
Caller: “Sorry, I must have the wrong number.”
Brent: “No worries, bye.”
5 seconds later: Ring
Brent: “Smartsheet, this is Brent.”
Caller: “This is the right number, it’s Smartsheet. Wow, I never expected to get a live person.”
Brent: “I can put you into voicemail if you’d prefer.”
Caller: Laughing… “No, I guess the fact that you guys are there shouldn’t surprise me. You guys have an amazing product, I love it. I just have one question…”

And shortly after that:

Ring
Eric: “Smartsheet, this is Eric.”
Caller: “Wow, are you guys a Canadian company?”
Eric: “No, we’re a WA state company.”
Caller: “What are you doing working today?”
Eric: “Apparently the same thing you are.”
Caller: “Touché’. I need a little help with…”

In all seriousness, we are headed home early to get some extra time with the kids. But, to all the armed forces personnel that are keeping us safe around the world today, thank you. We view Memorial Day as the day to remember how fortunate we are that you, and those before you, worked so hard and gave so much for us and our kids.
