This week at Google’s I/O 2010 conference in San Francisco, our VP of Development, Brian Harper is demonstrating the value of the Smartsheet + Google Apps integrated online project management solution and sharing notes with members of the Google team and the 180 other solution developers in attendance.

Early news from the conference? Tons of people. Tons of innovation happening on both the consumer and enterprise fronts - and most importantly...the experience on the web is improving at a torrid pace. Google should receive credit for serving as a primary catalyst.
The themes presented - including open standards, the importance of competitive markets, making the web experience better for consumers and enterprise users - apply to everyone, not just organizations that have 'gone Google'.
By way of example, look at what the introduction of Google Chrome has meant to the market. It entered the browser war (most notable participants at the time IE/Firefox/Safari) and displayed incredible speed. The pace of competition quickened and each competitor got better, faster.
A downstream effect of these improvements are that companies like Smartsheet can deliver richer, faster web apps...which in turn enables business to more efficiently work...resulting in greater productivity.
In speaking with one of our team members at the conference this morning, I sensed a bit of sensory overload. 5,000 attendees. Numerous announcements (Android 2.2, Chrome Web Store, Google TV, broad availability of Google Wave, advancements in Google App Engine). Thousands of thoughtful conversations between interested parties.
Great things will unfold in the wake of Google I/O 2010.
