We are a 10 person human resource department.
We use Smartsheet for two operational purposes. The first is to track employee requests that come to HR so we can identify areas to improve and drive better supervisor to employee relationships, and to track the volume of request. The second is a weekly project update list that I use for the Senior HR folks, who handle HR projects for the company.
January 2007
It was free to start, and the ability to get folks to update project status via online or email was a very cool feature. Instead of having many folks getting access to Excel and then not having the ability to update a spreadsheet because someone else had opened it, did not allow us to collaborate effectively.
I really like the ability to get updates via email and without even logging into the solution. This makes collaboration a lot easier and seamless.
Excel and Wrike.
Collaboration is critical in HR and trying to deal with version controls of spreadsheets was very time consuming. Smartsheet helped me manage project updates seamlessly and convert back into Excel without issue.
The intangibles are clearly being realized by having an ability to collaborate on information. From our HR request Smartsheets, it has allowed us to report on various categories and areas of employee concern that we did not have data on in the past. We also have seamless reporting on projects, which allows me to focus time elsewhere.
