Smartsheet Announces Microsoft Skype for Business Integration

Smartsheet’s latest offering brings work management and automation together with enterprise-class communication

BELLEVUE, Wash. – September 27, 2016 – Today at Microsoft Ignite 2016, Smartsheet, the world’s leading SaaS platform for managing and automating collaborative work, announced an integration with Microsoft Skype for Business. Smartsheet’s latest offering, available in December, will help deliver a seamless work experience for Smartsheet users by bringing enterprise-class communication directly into the Smartsheet platform.

“Delivering the unified Skype for Business and Smartsheet experience, provides joint Office 365 and Smartsheet customers a ‘greater than the sum of its parts’ value and convenience,” said Mark Mader, CEO of Smartsheet. “We’re excited about what the Skype for Business integration represents in combining best in class messaging and collaborative work platforms. Feedback from previews with enterprise customers has been overwhelmingly positive.”

Through the Microsoft Skype for Business integration, Smartsheet users will be able to display a team member’s Skype availability from within the Smartsheet app, and can decide whether to initiate a secure conversation through voice, video, instant message (IM), or email if the team member isn’t immediately available. Additionally, the integration enables IM chat logs to be saved directly to Smartsheet so discussions can be retained and searched.

“Microsoft and Smartsheet coming together will be a tremendous asset in helping us empower the teams charged with creating the best content for our viewers around the world,” said Charles Williams, NBCUniversal. "By having real-time collaboration and messaging tools that seamlessly work together, our teams can be even more productive and ensure the multiple projects being managed at various stages of production can stay on-track."

In addition to Skype for Business, Smartsheet customers can take advantage of high-value data integrations with nearly 60 third-party cloud apps including Dropbox, Box, JIRA, DocuSign, Microsoft Office 365, Salesforce and Google Apps for Work.

“This integration with Skype for Business is yet another example of how Smartsheet is integrating with Microsoft technologies to create an enhanced productivity experience that is familiar, seamless and helps teams and individuals work better,” said Rob Howard, director of Office ecosystem, Microsoft Corp.
