Smartsheet Appoints Magdalena Yesil to Board of Directors

Prominent Silicon Valley entrepreneur and investor to support Smartsheet in next stage of growth

BELLEVUE, Wash., - July 12, 2017 — Smartsheet, a SaaS platform for managing and automating collaborative work, today announced the appointment of Magdalena Yesil to its board of directors. Yesil, who was the founding board member and first investor of Salesforce, brings to Smartsheet her deep expertise in growing profitable SaaS companies.

“Magdalena is a highly respected entrepreneur with an incredible track record for helping companies achieve and extend category leadership,” said Mark Mader, CEO of Smartsheet. “We’re delighted to have her on the board and look forward to the expertise she brings as we continue our rapid growth in the collaborative work management and automation market.”

Yesil’s appointment follows a $52.1 million Series F funding round for Smartsheet and a period of significant momentum in which Smartsheet’s revenue increased by more than 60 percent year-over-year in each of the past five years. The company expects to surpass $100 million in annual recurring revenue this quarter.

“Smartsheet is a high-performing SaaS company with an exciting future ahead,” said Yesil. “I look forward to working with Mark, the rest of the board, and the senior leadership team to help steer the company as it enters the next phase of it’s growth."

Yesil currently serves on several boards in addition to Smartsheet, including RPX (Nasdaq: RPXC), Zuora and DriveInformed. She has been an early investor in over 30 companies, serving on the board for Salesforce from inception to post IPO. Most recently, she spent eight years as a general partner at the venture capital firm US Venture Partners (USVP), making investments in a broad spectrum of technology startups.

Prior to her investing career, Yesil was a serial entrepreneur, founding two successful electronic commerce companies, CyberCash - a pioneer in the secure electronic payment systems (IPO), and MarketPay, an embedded payments software company. She holds Bachelor of Science degrees in Industrial Engineering and Management Science, and a Masters of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, all from Stanford University.
