This year’s celebration of Juneteenth provides a valuable and timely reminder of the work that lies ahead to eradicate systemic racism and create the type of world we all envision. Progress will require a commitment to focused, sustained action on all our parts — individuals and organizations alike. Smartsheet recognizes that commitment and embraces the opportunity it provides for us to play our part by creating a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive workforce.
This Juneteenth presents an opportune time to provide a brief update on early progress made against the commitments outlined by Smartsheet CEO Mark Mader in this statement last week.
We are actively seeking candidates for our Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) role. This new role will manage the leadership of our global DEI strategy with a primary focus on elevating DEI across our people practices including recruitment, development, retention, and employee engagement. The job description can be found here. Please feel free to share this role with your networks.
The Smartsheet leadership team collectively raised $300,000 in personal funds, half of which has been donated to the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund and the Equal Justice Initiative. The other half is being used to match employee contributions to a range of other organizations supporting racial justice and equal opportunity.
As we continue this journey, we are committed to holding ourselves accountable to progress now and in the future.
