Sr. Technical Project Manager - Contingent Worker
Smartsheet is a tech company with a human story to tell. We’re here to empower teams to manage projects, automate workflows, and rapidly build new secure solutions, using simple no-code tools. We’re revolutionaries – so for us changing the way the world works is all in a day’s work.
Smartsheet's Marketing PMO is looking for a Sr. Technical Project Manager to support our Digital Marketing team. In this role, you will own the delivery of web development projects tied to our Drupal CMS—from scoping and sprint planning through release and production support. You will sit at the intersection of marketing strategy and web engineering, translating business needs into clear technical requirements and keeping development aligned with our roadmap.
Details:
Location: This is a remote role located within the US. Anticipated start date: June 1, 2026 Duration: 20 weeks. Anticipated end date: 10/16/26. Schedule: Monday-Friday, 40 hours a week with no overtime. Conversion: No potential for full-time conversion. Equipment: A personal laptop is required for this role. Bill Rate: $112.50/hr.
You Will:
- Own web project delivery end to end. Scope, prioritize, and manage enhancements to our web properties and Drupal CMS, working with front-end and back-end developers, creative teams, and business stakeholders across multiple time zones.
- Run biweekly release cycles. Partner directly with developers to manage the active workload and backlog, make scope trade-off calls, and ensure releases are ready to ship — including UAT administration and go/no-go decisions.
- Be the connective tissue between teams. Serve as the daily point of contact between web developers and business partners. Keep documentation current and communications clear.
- Manage risk and remove roadblocks. Identify scope changes and risks early, communicate them to stakeholders, and drive decisions to keep projects moving.
- Contribute to PMO operations. Support teammates in delivering PMO best practices, participate in process improvement, and help optimize how our team works.
You Have:
- 5+ years of PM experience focused on web development, with hands-on work managing CMS platforms (Drupal strongly preferred) and digital marketing or eCommerce web properties.
- Marketing context. You understand how digital marketing teams operate — campaign workflows, content pipelines, web strategy — and can bridge the gap between marketing goals and technical execution.
- Agile and Waterfall experience managing projects across distributed, global teams.
- Strong requirements skills. You can break down complex requests into detailed stories, sub-tasks, and documented requirements that developers can actually use.
- Experience with issue-tracking and intake tools such as Jira or similar platforms, including production support workflows.
- Clear communication with senior stakeholders. You can translate milestones, risks, and trade-offs into language that resonates at the leadership level.
- Ability to manage competing priorities. You're comfortable load-balancing resources across multiple active projects without losing sight of the roadmap.
- AI fluency. You actively use AI tools to work smarter, and you're comfortable in a team that prioritizes AI-enabled ways of working.
- Smartsheet proficiency (at least entry-level; willingness to learn quickly is a must).
- Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript is a strong plus.
- Bachelor's degree in CS or a related field, PMP certification, or equivalent experience.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills are required.
