Smartsheet Adds Seamless Access to Dropbox, Zapier, Hundreds of Web Apps

Bellevue, Wash. – August 26, 2013 --Today, Smartsheet announced two significant integrations that extend the value of its popular, spreadsheet-inspired collaboration tool for managing projects. These enhancements allow Smartsheet users to leverage many of the web tools they already use, including Dropbox, Evernote and Salesforce, within Smartsheet, to simplify work processes and increase productivity.

“The idea of a one-stop, do-everything app is dead. People use many apps to get work done - Dropbox for managing and sharing files, Evernote for idea capture, Smartsheet for project collab, Salesforce.com for lead tracking,” said Mark Mader, President and CEO of Smartsheet.  “The new integrations with Dropbox and Zapier give Smartsheet users the ability to coordinate actions between the Web apps and devices people already use, and love.”

Smartsheet users can now attach files directly from Dropbox to Smartsheet projects or tasks by simply clicking on the “Attach from Dropbox” option in the menu and selecting the file(s) they wish to attach. Keeping relevant documents, graphics and other files associated with the work task they’re managing is especially valuable for teams collaborating on projects that involve contracts, graphics or presentations.

“Having access to your files is a major part of project management,” said Dan Levine, who manages platform partnerships at Dropbox. “Since businesses rely upon Dropbox to share and collaborate on files every day, Smartsheet’s integration with Dropbox is an exciting way to give people the ability to easily connect their files with their projects, save time and ultimately work smarter.”

Additionally, Smartsheet users can now connect the work they do in 200+ best-in-breed web apps, including Evernote, Freshbooks, Zendesk, Paypal and Salesforce, directly into Smartsheet using Zapier’s web service. Now, non-technical users who may not know how to work with APIs can create their own triggers to automate the flow of data between their tools.

For instance, Smartsheet users can automate processes like these without having to write any code:

  • When a new note is created in Evernote, automatically create a new task (row) in Smartsheet where due dates and reminders are established.
  • Automatically create a lead in Salesforce when a user fills out a Smartsheet web form at a trade show or on a website.
  • When someone makes a purchase via Paypal (or QuickBooks Online, Stripe, Recurly) create a new row in Smartsheet to track the transaction.
  • As a new help desk ticket comes into JIRA (or Bugzilla, FogBugz, Zendesk, PivotalTracker) create a new project task in Smartsheet.

More than 30,000 organizations worldwide rely on Smartsheet to help them organize, plan and execute a broad spectrum of projects and processes, ranging from marketing campaigns to product launches, business operations, events, strategic planning and HR initiatives.
