Smartsheet Unveils New Automation Features to Accelerate Workplace Productivity
New Mobile Application Also Debuted at Inaugural ENGAGE Customer Conference

The new Smartsheet features, which include automated approval requests and automated update requests, in-app notification capabilities, and an updated mobile app with a new navigation experience, empower employees; to streamline their work processes without requiring any coding skills or technical support. Unveiled at the company’s sold-out global customer conference - Smartsheet ENGAGE - before a thousand business leaders, customers and partners, these capabilities lay the foundation for a new era of work management.
Product announcements made at Smartsheet ENGAGE include:
Automated Actions. New capabilities enable business users to automate daily work by eliminating repetitive manual steps, freeing time for more important, high-value activities. Starting with approval and update requests, Automated Actions are easy and fast to configure, without technical support or having to write code. This is the first in a series of automation features that Smartsheet will deliver to help organizations innovate and execute faster.
Enhanced notifications. New in-app notifications allow Smartsheet users to work more efficiently by alerting them to changes in the status of their work or when an action is required. With the enhancements announced at ENGAGE, users can now customize how notifications are received, either in-app, through email, or via mobile push notifications. These enhancements are designed to help accelerate the pace of execution.
New mobile experience. The Smartsheet mobile app has been updated to improve workers’ abilities to accomplish tasks on the go. Key enhancements include improved navigation, a new home tab, mobile optimized SightsTM, and a new mobile notification center that enables users to take action on automated requests from within the Smartsheet mobile app.
In conjunction with ENGAGE, Smartsheet is releasing the results of a new survey that reveals how workers view the opportunities automation presents and the pain points they believe it can solve. Among the findings, 42 percent of workers reported spending more than 10 hours a week -- or more than a quarter of their workweek -- on repetitive, manual tasks. And an overwhelming majority -- 86 percent -- said automation makes workers more efficient and productive.
