Smartsheet Named a Leader in the 2026 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Collaborative Work Management for Fourth Consecutive Year
Smartsheet has been named a Leader in the 2026 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Collaborative Work Management for the fourth consecutive year. We are grateful for the recognition.
The market is shifting under everyone's feet
Collaborative work management (CWM) has never been more dynamic. Enterprise platforms are adding work management, AI-native newcomers are entering the category, and the lines between them are converging.
At the same time, AI has moved from copilots that make one person faster to agents that act across systems. Gartner predicts that by 2027, 80% of AI agent interactions with SaaS applications will be via SaaS-hosted MCP servers. Up from less than 5% in 2025.”* The buyer's question is changing. With AI, speed is now table stakes. It is no longer "Which tool helps my team collaborate faster?" but "Which platform can my organization trust to bring humans and agents together on connected work, with context, control, and AI governance?"
Why this matters to our customers
A single strong year can be the product of one good release cycle. We believe four years in a row is a pattern, and a pattern is what earns trust when customers are deciding where their most important work will live. Customers choosing Smartsheet today are choosing a platform that 85% of the Fortune 500 and more than 123,000 organizations already rely on for secure governance and seamless AI interoperability. As our CEO, Raj Singh called out in his LinkedIn post: This is why organizations like General Mills, Alaska Airlines, and Merck choose us not once, but year after year.
Customers cite that same combination of governance and usability as a differentiator. One IT manager on Gartner Peer Insights™ called Smartsheet their "core platform for collaboration, process improvement and decision making" that delivers "the security and governance needed for sensitive business information while still being accessible enough for teams to adopt."
They are choosing a secure, enterprise-grade platform that never forces a choice between the AI tool they prefer and the work data they need through full interoperability. We are building for the long term, and the customer-first mindset is our north star.
What makes Smartsheet different
What sets Smartsheet apart is that enterprise scale, governance, and AI innovation were built together, not sequentially.
Control Center, Dynamic View, and Data Shuttle let organizations deploy standardized, governed work across entire portfolios. More than 175 integrations connect Smartsheet to the systems of record enterprises already run, and MCP connectors bring live work into Claude, ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Google Cloud Gemini Enterprise, and Amazon Quick. AI agents operate inside the same permission model that already protects an organization's most important work. And no-cost Contributor seats mean everyone touching the work can participate, not just those holding a license.
The proof, and the work still ahead
Our AI momentum is measurable. Since launching multiple new AI features in 2026, including Smart Assist within the platform as well as the Smartsheet MCP Server and direct MCP connectors with Claude, Copilot, ChatGPT, Gemini, and Amazon Quick, adoption grew nearly 9x in weekly active users, with usage on track to surpass 100 million AI actions this year. Nearly one in three of those AI actions creates, updates, or modifies live work. By September, MCP Server actions were up more than 700% since launch. Smart Assist, launched in June, now offers more than 55 capabilities inside the platform; based on our recent peak usage we’re tracking towards more than 1,000 new accounts per day.
We also launched Agentic Solutions this year, a suite of standardized, fast-deploying AI-powered packaged solutions designed to address specific business needs across use cases and industries. These Agentic Solutions are Smartsheet-managed and deploy in less than 4 weeks, accelerating time-to-value for customers.
Market momentum matches it. Japan has grown 400% in customer growth since we opened in Tokyo in 2023; more broadly APAC region has seen a 500% increase in AI usage. We also opened offices in Singapore and India this year. Over in EMEA, we continue to see a steady growth in ARR, 4.3X since 2019 with increasing focus in Germany, France, UK and Ireland, and the Nordics. We added new global partners across 20 countries, with APJ leading 30% YoY partner growth.
Yet we are still building. The platform we are working toward is fit for purpose and accessible to everyone who touches the work, connected through an ecosystem of integrations and AI connectors, available wherever teams already are, and governed by design rather than afterthought. As teams add more tools and more agents, work moves faster and drifts further from the plan, and keeping it all under control becomes the real challenge. That is the transformation story: not AI for its own sake, but AI that makes people's working lives measurably better, with speed, context and control moving together.
Why this matters to Smartsheet
We believe the recognition reflects our bet that collaboration work management, connecting humans and agents, data and context on one secure system with embedded governance, is where this category is going. Leadership is also a responsibility. For us, our recognition as a Leader raises the bar every year, and we hold ourselves to it.
We will share the next chapter at ENGAGE. Until then, the full Gartner report is available here.
