Smartsheet and Snowflake Partner to Simplify Project Management of Migrations to Snowflake

Smartsheet and the Snowflake AI Data Cloud have partnered to tackle the work management challenges inherent in  migration, combining our respective strengths in enterprise work management and cloud-based data storage. We’ve jointly developed a project plan template, Spark migrations to Snowflake, designed specifically to simplify and accelerate the migration of large, complex data sets. Our goal with this structured approach is to help organizations achieve a seamless transition to their new data environment.

First Use Case is Apache Spark to Snowpark Migrations

Snowflake’s ease of use and ease of scale are key reasons organizations migrate their Apache Spark workloads to Snowflake — and in doing so, companies are saving tremendous amounts of time and human costs that they would otherwise be investing in maintenance and performance tuning. Customers can now access a co-developed project plan, along with pre-built dashboards and reporting, accessible from within Smartsheet’s template gallery, to organize, track and manage their migrations. These templates will be available at no additional cost to existing Snowflake and Smartsheet customers. New Smartsheet users will be prompted to set up a free plan, and will have 30 days to use the templates and assess their value, prior to subscribing to a paid Smartsheet plan. 

Pre-Built Blueprint and Best Practices

This Smartsheet-Snowflake project plan acts as a blueprint providing foundational milestones, tasks, and best practices so that customers can execute their migration with more confidence and speed. 

Proven approaches and accelerators like Snowflake’s free code conversion tool, Snowpark Migration Accelerator, are available to customers at no cost and incorporated within the project plan. The project plan can also be customized to include automations at any scale, enabling teams to streamline workflows and collaborate seamlessly within the Smartsheet platform. Additionally, ready-to-use reporting and dashboards help teams track progress, stay on top of status, and easily report updates to stakeholders.

This jointly developed project plan template with Snowflake is another powerful example of how Smartsheet removes complexity so that customers can efficiently achieve their target outcomes such as migrations to Snowflake. With Smartsheet and Snowflake, customers now have a no-code, quick-to-implement project management solution to migrate data quickly, reliably and securely from Apache Spark to Snowpark.
