Smartsheet Launches Version 2.0 of iPad/iPhone App, Bringing Fully Interactive Gantt Charts and Faster, Easier Editing Capabilities
Bellevue, Wash. – August 20, 2014 Smartsheet, the collaborative work management tool used by nearly 50,000 paying organizations and millions of users worldwide, today announced it has released a new Smartsheet 2.0 for iPhone and iPad. The new app features a new highly responsive and interactive grid which make it easier to get work done on iOS devices. The company also recently updated Smartsheet for Android, which features an interactive Gantt chart and the ability to attach files from Google Drive or Dropbox easily from an Android device, including the new Amazon Fire Phone.
"Our mobile product is an astonishingly impressive feat of design and engineering," said Mark Mader, CEO and president of Smartsheet. "Nothing in the market compares to its power and simplicity for coordinating mobile-first workflows. Convenient and elegant access to information across devices has moved from 'nice to have' to ‘must have’. It's why half our engineering resources are committed to delivering a beautiful user experience for the iPhone, iPad and Android devices.
Unlike many SaaS productivity apps, Smartsheet has offered native applications for iPhone, iPad and Android for more than a year and a half. Erik Rucker, director of mobile at Smartsheet added, “Native apps have allowed us to deliver a faster, more interactive, and powerful experience. Customers expect to not only view their projects in a Gantt chart via mobile, but they also want to update it on the fly. Smartsheet for iPhone and iPad provides a very fast and smooth experience for navigating large grids of data or Gantt charts, which is something even the heavy hitters such as Apple, Google, and Microsoft don’t always manage. Nailing this is hard, but the effect is huge; the rendering speed and smoothness give Smartsheet the most natural grid and Gantt interaction in the market.”
Smartsheet App Gets High Visibility, High Praise
Smartsheet apps are available free to download in the Apple App Store, Google Play Store and the Amazon Android and Kindle stores. In the past year, the company has seen its mobile usage increase 500 percent. The app is now featured on the highly coveted “Hot/Best New Apps" list in the Apple App Store in 83 countries. In total, Apple has featured Smartsheet in 47 app categories and 137 countries in the last thirty days.
Colliers International | Wisconsin, the largest full-service commercial and residential real estate firm in Wisconsin, purchased tablets for its property managers, specifically to be able to access and update site information in Smartsheet while on the road. “Smartsheet has become a competitive advantage for us, and to win business because of an online collaboration tool – well that’s pretty incredible,” said Kristin Komassa, team coordinator and database administrator of Colliers Wisconsin. “Now, when property managers head out on a site visit, they use a web form on their tablet or smartphone to instantly update the status of their site.”
Smartsheet is deployed in a broad range of customer environments, including many of the world’s industry-leading organizations such as Google, Netflix, Cisco, Bayer, Groupon, Pearson, HomeAway, McGraw-Hill Education, DHL, ESPN, Sony Music, and MetLife.
