You can now connect Smartsheet to any MCP-compliant AI tool through the new Smartsheet MCP Server — an open, protocol-based integration layer built on Anthropic's Model Context Protocol standard.
Connect your Smartsheet account and immediately start asking natural-language questions about your project data. The MCP Server routes requests through Smartsheet REST API, pulling structured data with rich metadata — row relationships, column types, cell history, comments — all respecting the authenticated user's permissions. The MCP Server is also engineered with proprietary data optimization that compresses and filters payloads, so teams get faster AI responses at lower token costs as usage scales.
What used to require building dashboards, writing formulas, configuring reports, or exporting data now happens in seconds. Ask "What are the top blockers in Q3?" or "Summarize project risks for exec review" and get contextually rich, intelligent responses.
You can also take action directly from your conversation — update task status and dates, add or modify columns, manage risks, or create new assets based on your Smartsheet data.
