Smartsheet and GLBA
The Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (“GLBA”), together with its implementing regulations, is a United States federal law with reforms for the financial services industry while also providing for protections related to consumer financial privacy.
The Federal Trade Commission has issued guidance to financial institutions on how to comply with the privacy of consumer financial information rule, and that can be found at https://www.ftc.gov/tips-advice/business-center/guidance/how-comply-privacy-consumer-financial-information-rule-gramm. Each financial institution subject to GLBA must assess for itself whether and how it may use cloud services like Smartsheet in compliance with GLBA requirements.
